Welcome to History with Mrs. Connelly!

I look forward to a great year working with you and your child. This notice is to provide an overview of class guidelines and expectations. Please be sure to check my website for more information.

Text: The History of Our World, Prentice Hall, 2005.  Students are provided with a copy of the text to use, cover and keep for use at home during the school year. The text needs to be returned in the same condition as it was provided. If it is damaged or returned in a condition less than when it was assigned, a replacement fee will be collected. The condition of this text will be checked periodically throughout the year. (Price of book in 2012 was $80.00)

Class Expectations: Students are expected to follow the Middle School Expectations and Class Guidelines.

Listening, participating and caring for others, ourselves and our belongings are signs of respect.

Respect is an important key to being successful in 7th grade and life.

bullet

Respect must be shown to everyone and all property.

bullet

Be on time for class.

bullet

Come prepared to learn, participate, and to succeed.

bullet

Only one person talks at a time. Listening and speaking skills are important.

bullet

When working in groups, everyone collaborates cooperatively.

If you are absent, then check the webpage, talk to a classmate, use edmodo and come see me to find out what you missed.

Grading: Students will be graded on the following:

bullet

Class assignments and work, including participation and preparation

bullet

Homework

bullet

Responsibility

bullet

Quizzes and Tests

bullet

Projects and Presentations

Late Work Guidelines: In class, the best guide is to get work and assignments done on time. If you don't there are few late work guidelines.

bullet

All assignments are expected to be ready to turn in at the beginning of  class the day it is due to earn full credit.

bullet

Assignments handed in late will be marked down. Please remember that some credit is better than none and assignments connect directly to displaying learning and ability to participate in class.

bullet

Major assignments and projects which are turned in after the due date in class will be downgraded 10% or 1 letter grade for each of the first 3 days it is late. After 5 or more days, late work will not be accepted unless circumstances dictate otherwise.

bullet

Any work missed due to an absence from school must be made up within two days so that the material covered is recent and work is current.  Everyone needs to stay current with learning expectations and assignments to get the most out of class. (Extension may be given up when necessary but must have teacher approval and may be considered with parent/student coordination.)
