ICT Portfolio (White) Board Notes

Tips and Hints to help you with the completion of your ICT Portfolio
  1. Grading
    1. Proficient means that the entire ICT Portfolio Grading Rubric has 2's for all items.
    2. This is not a percentage class, please see above. A 98% or 99% is NOT passing.
  2.  Make sure to read (not scan!) the entire packet I gave you. Including all of page two, there are directions for copying the webprojects correctly.
  3. Reflection Guidelines
    1. What to write about? Some ideas are below, combine, come up with your own...
      1. Why you chose this item to submit as part of your portfolio?
      2. What problems / sucesses did you have with it?
      3. What sucesses / difficulties did you have with using the technology to complete the project?
    2. Link to sample reflections scroll to the bottom of the page and look for samples.pdf
    3. You must highlight (limited to yellow only) or underline the three (3) supporting statements about your use of technology
  4. Each artifact can be used only once
    1. i.e. a Broadside submitted for the Word Processing portion can not be resubmitted in the Choice portion.
  5. Choice
    1. All files that are submitted for the Choice portion of the portfolio, can not be resubmitted for another area of the ICT Portfolio.
    2. All pieces that are submitted, must meet the requirements for that program on the ICT Portfolio Rubric;
      1. i.e. a Word Processing document must meet all of the requirements listed on the ICT Portfolio Rubric for Word Processing.
    3. Choice can also be the PDF map from Mr. Bonds ARC GIS lab
  6. Presentation
    1. Make sure the criteria on the ICT Portfolio Rubric is met
    2. If you are having trouble with animations and sounds of objects on the slides;
      1. Remove them all, save and close
      2. Choose SIMPLE Effects!!
      3. Add them back in one at a time
        1. Save, and close
    3. If you are having trouble with the transitions from slides to slides and the sounds;
      1. Remove them all, save and close
      2. Choose SIMPLE Effects!!
      3. Add them back in one at a time
        1. Save, and close
    4. Note any and all issues with the above in your reflection to me.
  7. Spreadsheets
    1. The major parts of a spreadsheet click the text to the right for a quick run through on the major pieces of a spreadsheet page.

  8. Website Notes
    1. To hand in a Weebly Website
      1. Write the reflection in Libre Office Writer
      2. Copy / Paste / Link to your Weebly at the BOTTOM pf the reflection
      3. Make sure to save the above into the Website folder under Grade 8\Computer
  9. Eval Sheet Order
    1. The Order of the sheets is:
      1. Green = 1st Eval
        1. Place your name on the top of each page
      2. Yellow = 2nd Eval
        1. Place your name on the top of each page
        2. Underline in colored pencil the items that need to be evaluated, again
      3. "Red" = FINAL EVAL

  10. When Proficient, do (quietly) or waiting for a grading of a section. (After end of May).
    1. Do typingweb.com for 25 minutes, with 85% accuracy.
      1. See Mr. Gruce for the username and password. Please do not create your own.
    2. Complete work for another class, computer use is ok
      1. You can walk over and quietly ask a classmate a question and return to your seat.
      2. You can print papers for class to the Black and White printer by the door.
        1. No color printing allowed.
    3. Scratch Programming
      1. You must do the 12 Scratch Cards as directed by clicking here.
      2. Then, take your radio play and make it a "animated movie" in Scratch
      3. Go to this site, with earphones, and complete the projects listed for Scratch.
        1. When done, create your own versions of them.
    4. You can read for 20 minutes of SSR (FUN!!) or assigned classroom reading
